BCS Rankings Week 4 Projection How They Got Here: Stanford has been one of the best teams in the Pac 10 this season, and their only loss this year came from the Oregon Ducks. Every single Stanford win (with the exception of USC) has been extremely convincing:

35-0 over UCLA.

68-24 over Wake Forest.

41-0 over Washington.

And the list goes on.

Why No. 9: Up until last night, Stanford had only played one ranked opponent (Oregon), and we all saw how that turned out. The Cardinal looked like a good team that was able to overcome fairly weak Pac 10 teams...

Until now. Stanford defeated the Arizona Wildcats 42-17, and they are second only to Oregon in their conference.

Staying Power: Looking down the Cardinal's schedule, they have already played their hardest opponents.

Stanford stands a very good chance at ending the season 11-1 and staying in the top 10.
