BCS Rankings Week 4 Projection How They Got Here: The Michigan State Spartans surprised the college football world this season as they remained the only undefeated Big Ten team going into Week 9. They found themselves ranked as high as No. 5 in the BCS, but then they received an intense beating at the hands of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Why No. 10: After losing to Iowa, the Spartans bounced back to blow out the Minnesota Golden Gophers. With some top 10 teams like Utah and Alabama taking losses this weekend, the Spartans get the boost they need to move back up.

Staying Power: The Spartans have the advantage of not having to play The Ohio State Buckeyes this season, and their one remaining test will be the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Penn State will be tough, but the Spartans should finish their season with only one loss and stay in the top 10.
