College Football Preview 2008: One Final Thought
College Football season is officially one day away.
Gone are the many long hours fans have spent on their teams' websites scouting new players.
Gone are the sleepless nights debating whether your team has a good enough pass rush to stop your rival's Heisman-like quarterback.
Gone are the Saturday mornings in the summer where you wake up to a tennis match instead of a football game.
My friends, the time is upon us to shed our grief and take up our school colors. College Football season has arrived and not a moment too soon.
All of the hoping and speculating of the endless summer days are over. You now will witness what your team is really made of.
With the return of college football, there is a return of happiness and bliss. It feels as if light has returned to the world after eight months of darkness.
The bands will blast their horns in approval, the cheerleaders will show some pep in their step, fans will resume their Saturday morning tailgating five hours before the game, coaches will pull their hair out night after night of game planning.
Football has returned.
At the start of this season, like any other college football season before it, every team has a clean slate. With the first kickoff, teams trying to wash out bitter tastes from last season can begin their march to redemption.
Will Georgia live up to its #1 preseason ranking?
Will Oklahoma get over their BCS slump?
Will Tim Tebow make a run at a historic second Heisman?
Will Mack Brown achieve at least 10 wins for the 8th straight season?
Only time will tell.
Friends, college football season is a glorious time for all of us football-crazed fans. We get to let loose our passion for our teams and our hatred for our rivals. It is a time where we all come together to celebrate the sport that stands head and shoulders above the rest.
In closing, may you all have a great college football season. May your teams prosper (except OU and A&M) and may you all go to sleep happy Saturday nights (or early Sunday mornings).
Remember, you win some and you lose some. Never give up on your team. They go out and battle every weekend so, stand firm behind your colors no matter the outcome.
College football is back...let the games begin.
