Michigan Football: D is for Defense
Illinois vs. Michigan Football:
The Michigan Wolverines have ended their losing streak by defeating the Illinois Fighting Illini 67-65 in 3OT.
It looks like Rich Rodriguez's seat may have cooled off a bit after today's game, but we have to ask one question:
Where the heck is the Michigan Wolverines' defense?
This is the main problem with Michigan football. The Wolverines have to rely on their offense to keep them in ballgames because their defense isn't going to do anything.
The Wolverines might be able to use this shootout tactic with teams like Notre Dame, but as we've seen the past few weeks, this style just won't cut it against the stronger defenses in the Big Ten.
Just look at their games against Michigan State and Iowa.
And things won't get much easier as the season progresses. The Wolverines should be able to pull off a win over Purdue, but then they will play No. 9 Wisconsin and No. 10 Ohio State back-to-back.
So can a team learn defense in two weeks?
Don't bet on it.
