Mets: A Look At the Bullpen and Future Fixes

Gerard BarattaContributor IAugust 25, 2008

As a Met fan this bullpen is really terrible watching it day to day. Problems arise with a bullpen with really no strikeout pitchers and way to many specialists, such as feliciano, shoewenweis, smith, and even heilman hasnt been good against Lefty hitters this year. The result is no crossover pitchers and the use of too many pitchers to get outs..Yes, Aaron Heilman has to be shipped out and changed into a starter by another team b/c ever since the cardinals playoff series hes pitched scared, in a way i feel bad for him.

No one looks at this trade but the mets shipped out Matt Lyndstrom in a deal for Jason Vargas, terrible move by Omar Minaya b/c the mets need someone who throws hard besides Wagner in a bullpen that pitches too much to contact resulting in long bad innings over and over and over.....

Fixes: Maybe not this year but Scott Downs is said to be movable and has quietly become one of the best Lh relievers in the game for the Blue Jays..(sub 2.00 Era) and another name that is interesting is Manny Corpas, whom the rockies have seemed to gave up on due to his rough start even though his ERA is under 2.50 since july.....
