Rumors & Realities: Everton Make First Signing
R-R presents to you the latest rumors and realities of the football world.
Everton make their first signing! So, it has to be Jao Moutinho... No. Well, Thiago Motta is good too, is he the signing? No.
After a long series of disappointments, David Moyes (the guy caught shouting in the picture) finally has his first man. Everton's first signing is [exciting drums]: Lars Jacobson! Who?
There have been a lot of rumors in the last few days. In the last week of the transfer window, EPL teams start making arbitrary offers for average foreigners.
Perhaps the greatest rumor in the papers is the one that suggests that the intense rivalry between Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson has finally cooled down. It seems that now, with Arsenal signing Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United, Sir Alex and Wenger have ended their long-lasting feud.
It might be that, or Sir Alex simply thinks that Arsenal are not serious challengers anymore. How good is Silvestre anyway?
Arsenal fans' anticipation ended with his signing, pretty much like Everton fans ended with Moyes signing Jacobsen. But at least Jacobsen doesn’t have the reputation for being a prone-mistake-defender. Good luck Silvestre!
Moyes is happy with the former Nurnberg defender and current Denmark right back settling for a one-year deal at Goodison Park. Toffees manager, however, wants six or seven more faces in the Everton squad. At Moyes’ rate of signing players, good luck Everton!
Ronaldo (the fat one) has been linked with Manchester (City). Mark Hughes wants to get himself a Ronaldo. He figures that with Ronaldinho snubbing every pathetic City approach and Sir Alex having the good Ronaldo, maybe the secret lies in the name.
Ronaldo was last pictured on a yacht with the photos turning out very uninspiring. He has been a free agent since Milan did not renew his contract at the end of last season.
Juande Ramos thinks that the renovated Tottenham aren’t complete yet, having had a hugely disappointing record after two games (two games played, two losses… Not the best record).
Ramos figures that Manchester United flop, Diego Forlan, (who happens to be a La Liga hero) would be the ideal signing who will change the fortunes of Spurs. However, he would probably have to sell more than Dimitar Berbatov, with Villareal setting a €30m tag on their Uruguayan striker’s head.
€30m? A crazy fee for a player who had a drought-full stint at Old Trafford a couple of seasons ago.
What’s next, Mateja Kezman for €40m?
There are rumors, a lot of rumors. But then, there comes the section, the small section of realities. After signing Ludovic Giuly and Claude Makelele, PSG have signed another "has been"; this time, it's Chelsea flop Mateja Kezman (not for €40m though).
Transfer Realities… Here We Go!
Milan have made a reputation of signing thirty-plus year-olds. The only two players they signed this summer, who are not in their thirties, are Matthieu Flamini and Philippe Senderos.
Senderos joins Milan on a season-long loan. Why did Milan sign two young Gunners? Simple: because Arsenal don’t have old players…
[Deep breath] Stefan Nijland moves from Groningen to PSV, Luigi Sala moves from Sampdoria to Udinese, Rolando Bianchi moves from Manchester City to Torino (to the delight of City fans), Zenit sign Portuguese midfielder Danny from Dynamo Moscow for €30m while Nikola Lazetic moves from Torino to Red Star Belgrade.
