Is Islanders Chris Simon's 30 Game Suspension Long Enough?

Francois GendronSenior Writer IDecember 19, 2007

IconThe NHL verdict has been laid down, as Chris Simon's actions last Saturday will be penalized with a record setting 30 games. This is already Simon's 7th career NHL suspension.

Is it even enough?

That is a valid question in this particular case. It has been said that Simon is dealing with off ice problems. The man needs help obviously.

Technically, Chris Simon could come back on February 21st! That's just two months from tonight.

Will two months (including the holiday season knocking at our doors) be enough to shrug off all of his monsters?

I believe that more time should be awarded to professionals to fix Simon once and for all. With that being said, I think the league would better serve the man by banning him for the remainder of the 07-08 season.

Anything short of this will eventually result in another serious (and perhaps this time, life threatning) aggression.
