The Giants won a little more than the pennant Monday night, defeating the Texas Rangers 3-1 in Game 5 of the World Series, taking the Fall Classic 4-1.

MVP Edgar Renteria delivered the key hit, a three-run home run off Cliff Lee in the seventh inning to back a stellar performance by Tim Lincecum on the mound.

It was the first World Series for the Giants since 1954.

Elsewhere, shock waves are still working their way through the NFL tonight after the news of Randy Moss' release earlier today by the Minnesota Vikings.

Moss, who caught one pass in Sunday's loss in New England, effused praise on his former team and coach after the game in a "press" conference that he conducted himself.

One has to wonder if that had anything to do with the departure of Moss.

Also, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are taking it to the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, exacting a measure of revenge from a Week 1 loss to the Texans.

We'll keep you updated for the next few hours as the events develop.
