World Series Game 4: Pat Burrell Benched
Manager Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants has benched left fielder Pat Burrell for Game 4 of the World Series tonight.
Burrell, who struck out in all four at-bats last night in a 4-2 loss, will be replaced by Cody Ross, who will move over from his starting spot in right field.
Nate Schierholtz will get the nod in right field tonight, his first start of the postseason. Aubrey Huff will move to the designated hitter spot, and Travis Ishikawa will start at first base.
In nine AB's during the World Series, Burrell has eight strikeouts. He has 19 K's in 38 at-bats during the Giants postseason run.
Bochy said that Burrell would get some extra cuts in the batting cage today and would be back in the starting lineup for Monday night's Game 5.
San Francisco leads 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
