Josef Boumedienne Signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs

There are reports out of Sweden that the Leafs have signed journeyman Josef Boumedienne to a two-way contract for this coming season.

The 30-year-old D-man put up 42 points, including seven goals, last season in 52 appearances for the AHL Hershey Bears. His last NHL appearances came in '03-04, when he played 37 games for the Capitals, notching 14 points.

This appears to be a depth signing on the surface, as the Leafs are already loaded with defensemen. However, this may be a precursor to some future trades not too far in the distance.

Chances are very good that McCabe will be moving to Florida. Perhaps there will be more players involved in this trade than originally anticipated.
