Jeanie Buss is one of the hottest cougars in sports. Of course, none of us knew that for sure while watching her dish out the championship rings before last night's Lakers game. But we were all thinking it.
And, well, that got us to thinking.
Who are some other cougars you might run in to at your local arena or ballpark?
For your viewing pleasure, we've compiled a list. Enjoy.
Dara Torres is one of the most successful Olympic swimmers in American history, and also became the oldest swimmer to earn a place on a U.S. Olympic team in 2008 when she was 41.
All told, the 43-year-old Torres has 12 Olympic medals: four gold, four silver, and four bronze.
Not surprisingly, Torres has been on camera outside of a pool too. She's worked as a reporter and host for NBC, ESPN, TNT, and Fox News.
Of course Dara Torres has done a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue! You would think that would have gone without saying!
Amy Acuff is an American track and field star who has competed in four different Summer Olympics as a high jump specialist.
The 35-year-old Acuff hasn't won any medals, but she did place as high as fourth with a near two-meter jump in 2004.
She has also had success as a model, appearing in Playboy, Esquire, Maxim, and FHM.
This is actually one of Acuff's less awesome poses. Feel free to find out for yourself.
No doubt you're not surprised at all to find Chastain on this list.
Chastain is one of the most famous female soccer players in the history of America, and is the perpetrator of one of the most famous celebrations in the history of sports when the American team won the World Cup in 1999. Personally, that was the first sports bra I ever saw (I was 12 at the time). So she'll always have a special place in my heart.
She's 42 now, and announced her retirement from professional soccer this past summer.
Do you read Gear magazine? You might want to consider it now.
Mary Sauer isn't a cougar quite yet... but she will be very soon.
Yes, this pole vaulter will turn 35 on Halloween, which is mere days away. She's had a good career as a non-cougar to this point, competing in the World Championships in 2001 and 2003, and the IAAF World Cup in 2002.
And yes, she has also modeled.
No words need. You wouldn't have read them anyway.
Jeannette Lee, or "Black Widow" if you're into the whole nickname thing, is a professional pool player.
This 39-year-old got her start playing pool in 1989, and undoubtedly had an easy time hustling more than her share of dimwits (can't blame them).
Lee went on to become the No. 1 female pool player in the world during the 1990s. In recent years, she's been trying her hand at speed pool, in which she's taken on some of the top male players in the world.
The good folks at Maxim did us all a favor by inviting Jeannette in for a shoot that produced this picture.
Feel free to show this around your office, home, or dorm and start making "corner pocket" jokes.
You might be more familiar of Jennifer Tilly's acting career than anything else she's done. She's appeared in quite a few movies over her 27-year acting career, including The Doors, Liar Liar, and Bride of Chucky.
More recently, the 52-year-old Tilly is also a professional poker player who has competed in all sorts of different tournaments. In 2005, she won a World Series of Poker bracelet in a Ladies' No-Limit Hold 'Em event, and has been a personality in the sport ever since.
She retired from poker in 2008, but has since made her way back to the tables.
P.S. Good luck trying to concentrate against Tilly.
In addition to being hockey great Wayne Gretzky's beloved wife, Janet Jones is also an actress and entertainer.
The 49-year-old Jones has appeared in such films as The Beastmaster, The Flamingo Kid, A League of Their Own, and Alpha Dog.
Jones has a history with athletes that extends beyond a mere hockey icon. Before marrying Gretzky in 1988, she was engaged to tennis star Vitas Gerulaitis for three years before breaking it off.
Yes, Gretzky's better half has done Playboy. Behold.
Rachel Hunter is a model, an actress, a reality TV host, and a Dancing With The Stars contestant.
The now 41-year-old Hunter got her start as a model, and got her big break when she posed for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in 1989. She got into television in the late 90s, and has appeared pretty regularly ever since.
She was married to Rod Stewart for nine years before they separated, and divorced him in 2005.
She makes this list because she's the true definition of a cougar, as she was once engaged to hockey player Jarret Stoll, who is 13 years younger than her.
You didn't think that mention of a swimsuit issue would end in a mere tease, did you?
Gabrielle Reece is equal parts volleyball player and model, and has also dabbled in broadcasting and fashion.
The 40-year-old from La Jolla, Ca made her name in the Beach Volleyball World Championships as one of the best kill artists in the business.
She recently tried to make it as a golfer, training hard to make the LPGA, but it was a task made too hard by her motherly responsibilities.
As a model, she has appeared in Elle, Life, and Playboy.
Warning: her eyes will follow you... but mainly because you won't stop staring.
Jeanie Buss claims the top spot on this list because she just has quite the resume right now.
As you well know, the 49-year-old is the daughter of Lakers owner and basketball Hall of Famer, Jerry Buss. And she has taken her involvement in her father's team to ridiculous heights
For one, she's the Lakers Executive Vice President.
For two, and this is almost baffling, she's dating head coach Phil Jackson. During last year's playoffs, she even documented their relationship in a video blog for Lakers.com called "Jeanie's Journal."
"Documenting" in this case basically means that she merely put the Zen Master's home life on display. Nothing more.
At one point, Buss even tried to turn her life as a female executive into a network TV drama, thinking it would be a good way to waste a night. That didn't pan out, but she's still hot. And powerful.
Buss is also number one on this list because of this picture, which is one of the best things a sports fan could ever hope to glimpse.
The good folks at Playboy and Sports Illustrated thought the same thing. And yes, Jeanie was happy to oblige for the former publication.
Feel free to find those pictures on your own. This is, after all, a family site.
