New Orleans Saints Preseason Game Preview: At Cincinnati

Bleacher ReportAnalyst IAugust 23, 2008

Tonight, the New Orleans Saints (1-1) will visit the Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) at the Jungle.

The Saints defense will try to redeem themselves after giving up 405 yards and 31 points to the Houston Texans last week. The starting cornerbacks will be rookie Tracy Porter (above) and Mike McKenzie. Jason David will be spending a little time on the sidelines tonight. The Bengals are going to be without their top three receivers so the Saints secondary won't have too much practice against big time WRs, but if they can't cover the Bengals WRs tonight, then they will need to hit the practice field big time.

On the other side of the ball, brand new Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey will get a little playing time, but not much. Coach Sean Payton said that the first team will play the entire first half and possibly even into the third quarter.

Also of interest, the rookie from Indiana, Tracy Porter, will not only be starting at corner, he will also be returning punts, of which he is very talented at. The Saints need an impact player on the special teams and Reggie Bush doesn't really return punts all that good, he's alright, but he's not an especially talented punt returner and Porter looks to become the starting punt returner.
