The United States army team at the Army Ten Miler took the top spot from the three-time defending champion Brazilian team.

The Army was led by Spc. Robert Cheseret, who finished with a time of 48 minutes, 20 seconds, good enough for third overall among all runners. The race was won by Ethiopian Alene Reta, who finished with a time of 47 minutes, 10 seconds. He ran the first mile in four minutes, 29 seconds and was through two miles in nine minutes, which is a blistering pace.

Reta won the event in 2009 with an all-time best finish of 46 minutes, 59 seconds which again is an insane time for 10 miles. How people run those kinds of distances at that speed is beyond me. I am not exactly what you'd call a distance runner and I have great respect for those that can. Kudos to the Army for finishing first.
