China Losing Face at Olympic Games

Are the Chinese losing face? Let me count the ways...

1. Fake fireworks. (If we'd done that we'd have been tarred, feathered, and set ablaze.)

2. Putting little girl in blatant Milli Vanilli-like act. (Some of my Chinese friends have rationalized this as okay until I ask them, what if it was your little girl?)

3. Double standard judging on women's gymnastics. (Like a tie goes to China.)

4. Allowing obviously under-aged girls to compete as 16-year-olds. (Please!)

5. Falsifying birth certificates. (Who's going to challenge the Chinese government?)

6. Flag blowers to fake a breeze. (This is not that bad, but it is evidence of a certain mindset.)

My question is, what else is there that we haven't discovered? How can China go from a relative nothing to having so many gold medals that even though we have more overall hardware so far, it's clear who the winner is?

Personally, I wouldn't care if China got all the golds and we got all the others. Except for Phelps', basketball, and a few others, they can have them.

The problem China has is that cloud that hangs over these achievements. It is so thick and toxic you'd think you were strolling down one of Beijing's streets.

That's another thing. Their smog is so awful, yet the world wants to exempt them from the global warming Kyoto accords. But of course we're the bad guys there.

I'm tired of the bias, the double standard, and the corruption. China has lost face big time in my book because it has been blatantly cheating and (in at least some of the events that I have seen) cheating is how they have been winning.

Heck, Belichick probably has a few scouts over there right now.

Oops. Sorry, Patriot fans, I saw the door and I just couldn't help but walk right through.
