NCAA Football Scores: Syracuse Upsets No 20 West Virginia
Visiting Syracuse took advantage of three West Virginia turnovers and handed the Mountaineers a 19-14 loss.
Syracuse scored nine points off the three turnovers--three field goals by Ross Krautman--and got a touchdown pass from Ryan Nassib.
The Orange (5-2, 2-1, Big East) built their 19-14 lead before halftime and made it hold up in the second half as neither team scored.
Syracuse threw for just 63 yards and was out-gained on offense, had fewer first downs, and less time of possession. But it did manage to record five sacks and the defense did its part in keeping West Virginia from the end zone.
The loss ended the 12-game home winning streak of West Virginia. Noel Devine ran for 122 yards, but the Mountaineers did not score on their final 10 possessions.
