The New Orleans Hornets waived guard D.J. Strawberry on Wednesday, which reduced their roster down to the NBA maximum of 15. He was held without a single point in his final preseason game with the Hornets Wednesday, as they lost 105-98 to the Charlotte Bobcats in overtime.

Strawberry averaged only 3.0 points in four preseason games.

The young guard is the son of former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry.

Chris Paul is entrenched as the starting point guard and there are a number of other players on the team that can not only back him up but take the other starting spot at shooting guard, including Marcus Thornton, Mario Bellinelli and Willie Green.
