Christine Ohuruogu's Gold Medal Win Still in Question
As Christine Ohuruogu pulled off one of the greatest finishing bursts in the 400m to win gold for Great Britain, the debate regarding her participation in these Olympic Games has intensified.
Despite winning gold, the focus of the media quickly turned to her three missed drug tests between October 2005 and June 2006. Many people think that she is lucky even to be at the Olympics, following the IOC's recent hardening of the rules allowing participation.
The rules say that anyone banned for six months or more will automatically miss the next Olympic games. Ohuruogu fell into that category, following her one-year ban for her three missed drugs tests, but was given permission by the BOA (British Olympic Association) to represent GB at the Olympics.

Controversial Usyk TKO Win 🤔
But after winning the 400m gold following a fantastic finishing burst with real grit and determination, she has been attacked by her critics, who claim she didn't deserve the gold following her drugs scandal. Some critics even say she should've been given a lifetime ban from athletics.
She did fantastically well in winning the gold, and now that she's won it, all her critics decide to bring up the past. As The Times' Matt Dickinson has said, "What was she to do, settle for bronze and have a quieter life?"
She has been attacked because she wanted gold and got it. If she had won bronze, nobody would've bothered her, but because she has been so successful, people label her as a cheat.
As it always is with Christine Ohuruogu, every time she wins a gold, there is more than just a ribbon attached to the medal. There will always be the strings of her past that go with it, bringing doubt and suspicion about her achievements.
Let's just hope she can do the same at London 2012. And this time, when she takes the gold, there will be no strings, just a ribbon attached to her medal.
