Are the Chicago Cubs Bound For Glory?
There has been a lot of speculation on whether the Chicago Cubs are going to get their first world series in 100 years? Being a diehard cubs fan my entire life, it's easy for me to say, yes, the Cubs are going to win the World Series this year.
Here are a few of the reasons I have come up with for why the Cubs will win the World Series.
The acquisition of Kosuke Fukudome has worked out over the first half of the season. The one problem about this is that when he played over in Japan, they only have 92 games before their playoffs.
If the Cubs can clinch the division with about five or six games before the end of the regular season, Lou Pinniella can give Fukudome some time to rest.
The Cubs have a very nice five-man starting rotation. The acquisition of Rich Harden was a needed trade. The bullpen has been stellar this season, with Carlos Marmol as the set-up man for Kerry Wood, who has come in and closed it out.
As of late, Carlos Marmol has gotten better and his ERA is a solid 2.81. Kerry Wood has done a nice job as the closer, saving 25 out of a possible 30. I see the Cubs' pitching carrying them though the playoffs and into the World Series, where they'll beat the Angels in Game Six, 7-4.
