Since the first day of the first test session of the 2008 Nascar preseason, Jimmie Johnson was confronted with the question that is still following him every day of 11 months of racing.
Can he win three championships in a row?
“It’s going to be a long, tough year,” Johnson, the two-time defending champion, said at Daytona International Speedway, as teams were beginning their preparation for the Feb. 17 Daytona 500, the first event of the season. “And I feel that we’ll be there at the end and have a shot at it.” Currently, Johnson is in great shape to clinch a chase spot, and his Crew Chief Chad Knaus is chomping at the bit to repeat last year's success...
Johnson is trying to join Cale Yarborough as a winner of three consecutive titles in Nascar’s premier racing division, the Sprint Cup. It will be tough, the competition this season is better then last season and you can bet the 18 and 99 and 88 cars are looking to dethrone the Champ.
Johnson is a serious threat, having won more chase races then anyone. Chad Knaus may be the best crew cheif in the business. Hendrick's only shot to win another title may be in Jimmy Johnson's hands , so stay tuned!
