Lana Lawless Sues LPGA For Civil Rights Violation
According to the Huffington Post, transgender golfer named Lana Lawless is suing the LPGA for requiring lady golfers to be "female at birth" in order to compete in LPGA events.
Lawless underwent "gender reassignment surgery" in 2005, and due to a Long Drivers of America policy change, she will no longer be able to compete in tournaments as a woman.
In 2008, Lawless won the women's world championship in long-drive golf, but the Long Drivers of America decided to change their policy to look more like that of the LPGA.
Lawless wants to prevent the LPGA from holding any events in the state of California until they change their policy regarding gender, and she is seeking damages from Long Drivers of America.
