The NHL reviewed the hit Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson put on Buffalo’s Jason Pominville on Monday night and spoke to Hjalmarsson on a conference call on Tuesday afternoon. The league has suspended Hjalmarsson for two games.

New York Islanders defenseman James Wisniewski, formerly of the Blackhawks, who was suspended for a high hit on Brent Seabrook late last year, was suspended for two games for making an “adult” gesture towards instigator Sean Avery.
