Friday October 15, 2010 8:00 PM EST
Line: Cincinnati -2.5
Big East debut for both these teams entering the game. Cincinnati is 2-3 this year while Louisville is 3-2. Cincinnati is 0-2 on the road this year. Louisville is 2-1 at home this year and is coming off a 56-0 thumping of Memphis. Cincinnati is also coming off a big win over Miami of Ohio 45-3.
Cincinnati looks to continue to play strong defense. They are ranked 34th in the nation allowing 19.8 points per game. Their offense has been good averaging 29.4 points a game, 54th overall. They have had good balance on offense. The Bearcat rushing game is averaging 178.6 points a game which is 39th in the nation. The rushing game is lead by Isaiah Pead who has 402 yards and 1 TD on the year. The impressive thing about the Junior RB Pead is the fact he is averaging 9.8 yards a game and is coming off a 197 yard game just last week. The Bearcat passing game is averaging 237.8 yards a game, 44th overall. Leading this passing attack is Junior QB Zach Collaros. Collaros has 1,180 yards with 12 TDs and only 1 Int.
Louisville has been even more impressive on both offense and defense. Their defense is ranked 32nd in the nation only allowing 19 points a game. Their offense has done enough to get some victories with 31.4 points a game, 46th overall. The standout on the offensive side of the ball has been the Cardinal rushing game which is averaging 218 yards a game, 18th best. Senior RB Bilal Powell has been impressive with 689 yards and 7 TDs. Powell also has 96 receiving yards with another TD. The Cardinal passing game comes in at 41st in the nation with 243.4 yards a game. The passing game is lead by Senior QB Adam Froman. Froman has 1,177 yards with 9 TDs and 4 Ints.
As football picks go, this one is a tough one. This game could go either way as indicated by the line. Both teams look like they are finally hitting their stride, but with the Bearcats 0-2 on the road, I think Louisville can get it done. They have the talent to get it done and will need to get Bilal Powell the ball early and often.
