Line: Northern Illinois -14
This MAC battle features two teams with undefeated records in conference. Buffalo comes in with a 2-3 record, 1-0 in the MAC. Northern Illinois has a 4-2 record with a 2-0 MAC record. Buffalo is 1-2 on the road while the Huskies are 2-1 at home.
This Bills defense comes in ranked at 70th in the nation, allowing 25.8 points a game. Their offense has struggled scoring only posting 19.2 points a game, 100th overall. This Bill offense has been able to put up some yards this year. Their rushing game is averaging 146 yards a game which is 69th in the nation. Freshman RB Branden Oliver leads the tam with 206 yards but is yet to get a rushing TD. The Bill passing game has been better with 230.6 yards a game, 52nd best. Leading the passing game is Sophomore QB Jerry Davis. Davis has 1,123 yards with 11 TDs and 11 Ints.
The Huskies defense has done well this year only allowing 21 points a game which is 41st in the nation. Their offense has averaged 28.3 points a game, 59th overall. Their rushing game has been far more superior to the passing game. The Huskies are averaging 236.2 yards on the ground a game, 12th best in the nation. Senior RB Chad Spann has 643 yards with 6 TDs. The Huskies are a rushing team and their passing stats reflect that. They are 94th in the nation with 175 yards thru the air a game. Junior QB Chandler Harnish has 382 rushing yards and 2 TDs. He has looked solid thru the air with 927 yards a game with 8 TDs and only 1 Int.
The way this Huskies team is coming together, makes this one of the easier football picks. I like what the Huskies are doing with their rushing game and QB Chandler Harnish is proving to be a duel threat. Buffalo has not looked great on the road and this should be one of their toughest tests on the road. If the Bills are going to have a shot, QB Jerry Davis will need to limit his turnovers.
