Hamels Dominant, Phillies Team To Beat in NL
Cole Hamels pitched the second shutout of the series and Chase Utley homered, helping the Phillies complete their sweep of the Reds. The 2008 world series MVP was dominant in Sunday's outing, allowing only five hits and no walks while striking out nine.
By mixing a hard fastball, plus curve and baffling change-up, Hamels furthered the impressive resume of an already scary Phillies rotation. Combined with Roy Halladay (21-10 2.44 ERA) and Roy Oswalt (13-13 2.76 ERA), Philadelphia will be a tough out in this year's postseason and look like the early World Series favorite.
With such hot pitching, Philly must loathe the prolonged layoff while await a winner in the Atlanta, San Fran series.
