Just a quick note to let you know in case you haven’t heard that the Tampa Bay Rays are making things interesting with their 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers today. This Tampa Bay Rays team looks like they have somehow switched the momentum back to their side after coming back from an 0-2 deficit to tie the series up and send it back to Tropicana field. The Rangers unlike the mighty Mariners have never won any sort of postseason series since coming to Texas in 1972 when none other than Ted Williams was their manager. In the event the Rays manage to make this comeback they would be the only team outside of the 2001 Yankees to come back from an 0-2 deficit and win a best of five series. Of course the Rangers will be sending their hired gunslinger Cliff Lee to the mound to face David Price in this show-down at Tropicana field, so this should be a real gem of a finale.
I watched most of the Giants-Braves game today but went to the gym when the Giants were up 1-0 in the 7th. Well I missed all the action in this one as the Braves came back to take a 2-1 lead only to see their hopes for a win slip away on an error late in the game. The SF Giants are up 2-1 now and can finish this one out tomorrow. I have to say that after being mired in the 2010 Mariners season this year I am still playing catch-up as far as getting all the players names and positions correct. Outside of the two dynasties the Yankees and Phillies, it seems like there is an awful lot of young up and comers that I have never heard of this year. Of course unlike our motley crew most of these young guys can really play the game. This bodes well for the future of the game.
Right now it is 1-0 Phillies over the Reds in a must-win game for Dusty Baker and his Reds who have not been hitting or fielding very well thus far and I look for the Phillies to advance.
