Real Madrid Beaten But Not Out
In the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup, Valencia took the edge on defending league champions Real Madrid going in to the second leg of the Cup after a 3-2 victory in the Mestalla stadium on Sunday night.
Madrid took the lead with just under a quarter of an hour gone, Van Nistelrooy controlling a long pass from De la Red and beating Hildebrand with an angled shot. Silva hit the post at the other end before the break though when the Ches turned the scoreline around in a three minute period early in the second half.
Mata firing a shot past Casillas and then crossing in for Villa to head past his Euro 2008 teammate.
Schuster brought on Robben, who almost immediately crossed in for Van Nistelrooy to beat Hildebrand again to equalise. But with ten minutes to go Vicente picked up a return pass from Silva and battled past Heinze to score the winner.
