The Brett Favre situation is still dominating the headlines, three days after reports surfaced about his alleged advances towards Jenn Sterger. Since then, two more females have come forward with similar accusations against the current Minnesota Vikings quarterback.
Also making the rounds still is the fervor over the thesis of Karen Owen, a former student at Duke University. Owen had some very intimate things to say about numerous students at school and their sexual habits, making herself the subject of the thesis.
The thesis went viral and was blasted all over the Internet this week and has had it buzzing ever since.
All in all, a pretty salacious week.
Oh, and there's college football today, some playoff baseball, and even some preseason NBA action.
Let's get to it!
No. 3 Oregon pulled away in the second half for a 43-23 win against Washington State, but what is next for the Ducks?
It wasn't a convincing win, and it came on the heels of No. 1 Alabama losing today at South Carolina.
Will the Ducks be moving up in the polls? They jumped ahead of Boise State last week after the convincing win against Stanford and into a more favorable position in the BCS picture.
LaMichael James scored three touchdowns, and backup quarterback Nate Costa played the final three quarters and led three scoring drives.
Oregon has just one game remaining against a ranked opponent--at home against Arizona on November 26th--in addition to a key matchup at USC in three weeks.
Tampa Bay scored five runs in the final two innings and held on for a 6-3 win against Texas today to avoid getting swept out of the playoffs.
The best-of-five series now stands at 2-1 in favor of Texas, with Game 4 set for Sunday.
Carlos Pena had the game-tying RBI single, and John Jason gave the Rays the lead for good with an RBI single in the eighth inning.
Pena finished with three RBIs for the Rays, who will send Wade Davis to the mound Sunday.
Texas will counter with Tommy Hunter, who went 13-4 during the regular season.
Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya is back to defend his title for the men, and Russia's Liliya Shobukhova will be back to defend her winner's crown in the Chicago marathon Sunday in what race officials expect to be a very deep field.
The men's race will also feature reigning Boston Marathon champion Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot of Kenya and London Marathon winner Tsegay Kebede of Ethiopia.
In the women's race, Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson is competing 25 years after delivering one of her most memorable performances.
She won the event and set an American record of 2:21:21 that lasted until 2003.
Winners will take home $75,000
With South Carolina's 35-21 win over top-ranked Alabama Saturday, where does this win go down for Coach Steve Spurrier of the Gamecocks?
Certainly, it doesn't rank with the National Championship he won while at Florida, but is it his biggest win since taking over the Gamecocks program?
He's won his share of key games against SEC opponents, but never has put his team in a position to play for an SEC title.
The win today snapped Alabama's 19-game win streak and may have given Spurrier his biggest so far in Columbia.
Now, can they keep it going to a possible SEC Championship?
The run to the 1973 Triple Crown will take place again in theaters all over the United States.
"Secretariat" details the amazing accomplishment of what is regarded as the best race horse ever.
Diane Lane stars as Penny Chenery, the horse's owner who senses something special. John Malkovich plays the horse's wacky trainer.
The movie portrays the horse's struggles starting out as "Big Red" on Chenery's family farm, leading up to the majestic run to the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes in winning the Triple Crown.
The 34th annual running of the Ironman Triathlon is being held today in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with over 1,800 participants ready to test their personal limits.
They are gathered to swim 2.4 miles, ride their bikes 112 miles, and a full 26.2-mile marathon.
Craig Alexander of Australia is the defending champion in the men's division, finishing the event in 8:20.21 last year.
Chrissie Wellington of Great Britain was the female winner, clocking in at 8:54.02.
Tony Gwynn announced today that he has cancer of the salivary gland and blamed years of use of dipping tobacco products for the disease, for which he will undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Gwynn said the doctors found the growth when they removed three lymph nodes and found a small amount of cancer in the parotid.
Gwynn, who is currently the head baseball coach at San Diego State, retired after the 2002 season with 3,141 hits, 18th-most in major league history.
He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2007 and was a 15-time NL All-Star.
There was no comeback this week for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
South Carolina defeated top-ranked Alabama 35-21 behind Stephen Garcia and Marcus Lattimore.
Garcia threw for three touchdowns and Lattimore ran for two more, including a 2-yard run midway through the fourth quarter that helped put the game away.
It was a defining win for Coach Steve Spurrier of South Carolina, who hasn't won too many big games since his return from the SEC.
Mark Dantonio is back at the helm of the Michigan State Spartans against in-state rival Michigan today.
Dantonio, who missed the last two weeks because of a heart attack suffered after his team's win against Notre Dame, is coaching his team from the press box today.
Michigan State has a comfortable 34-17 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
Must be the emotional lift Coach D has given to his team.
Complicating matters further for quarterback Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings is the fact that Favre has been diagnosed with tendinitis in his right elbow.
The Vikings have listed Favre as probable for their game Monday night against the New York Jets.
Coach Brad Childress didn't think the injury was much of an issue, saying in his press conference Saturday that the injury "flares up every now and again."
Coach Brad Childress has addressed the reports brought about this week concerning quarterback Brett Favre and the alleged lewd text messages sent to a former employee of the New York Jets.
Favre, under fire since Thursday when the reports surfaced, will not address the subject. He dodged a question about the accusations in a press conference.
Childress said during his Saturday press conference that the allegations will not be a distraction to anyone on his team, even Favre, as it prepares to play the New York Jets Monday night.
Childress said that he prefers to address such things with his team head-on to avoid distractions.
"I guess my experience is they are distractions if you allow them to be," Childress said. "When you address it and talk about it all together, then you go forward."
