Do you think Brett Favre wishes he would have stayed down on his farm in Mississippi right about now?
After revelations surfaced about Favre allegedly sending racy messages and photos to former New York Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger, two more former staffers with the Jets have now also come forward with accusations against Favre about some unwelcome advances.
This is going to get extremely messy for Favre, and turn into quite a distraction for the Minnesota Vikings as they head into their game Monday night against the Jets.
The acquisition of Randy Moss may ultimately help the Vikings on the field, but will off-the-field distractions prove to be the undoing of the Vikings' season?
And even more importantly, if they do indeed prove to be true, how will they affect the Favre legacy?
It just so happens that the Minnesota Vikings are playing the New York Jets Monday night, and all the extra attention that normally accompanies a Monday Night game is now magnified because of hoopla surrounding the Brett Favre-Jenn Sterger saga.
You would have thought that trading for Randy Moss would have dominated the headlines this week in Minnesota. Bringing back the talented--yet embattled wideout--would normally be the basis for numerous arguments via the pundits.
But the Moss acquisition has taken a back seat to the controversy surrounding Favre amid accusations by Sterger that some rather intimate objects belonging to Favre came via text message from the future Hall-of-Famer while he played with the Jets during the 2008 season.
So what is more distracting? Favre playing against his former team? Moss back in a Minnesota uniform? Or the Sterger accusations?
Going to be very interesting to see how the ESPN crew treats this situation in the booth Monday night, especially after Mike Tirico was famously accused of sexual harassment several years ago at the World Wide Leader.
At first glance, Jenn Sterger looks an awful like Brett Favre's wife Deanna. A few years younger, obviously, but both have the same features.
Dark hair, dark skin. Southern roots.
So maybe Favre, if allegations against him are proven to be true, just saw another version of his wife in Sterger.
The other two women who have subsequently come forward with similar accusations against the Minnesota quarterback have not been identified, so no one knows what they look like.
The NFL is looking into allegations levied against quarterback Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings about possibly sending lewd text messages to a former employee of the New York Jets.
Favre spent the 2008 season with the Jets after un-retiring from the Green Bay Packers, then retired again, only to begin play with the Vikings in 2009.
Jenn Sterger, a former sideline reporter employed by the Jets during the 2008 season, is claiming that Favre sent her several inappropriate messages while she was with the team.
It has also been reported that Favre may have used a member of the team's PR staff to help acquire Sterger's phone number.
This could evolve into a sexual harassment case before all is said and done.
If things weren't bad enough for Brett Favre after Jenn Sterger made her revealing accusations, two more former staffers with the New York Jets came forward Friday with similar claims about Favre's unwanted sexual overtures.
Both women wish to remain anonymous, but they were both massage therapists with the Jets during the 2008 season.
Both women claim to have received lewd text messages from Favre after he asked them for their numbers.
Neither woman thought it was unusual for Favre to ask for their number because a lot of players on the Jets would get private treatment outside of the Jets facility.
Favre reportedly send them text messages inviting them back to his hotel room in an inappropriate manner.
One of the women, who was married, did say that Favre backed off from the requests when he learned she was married.
Favre is also married and was married at the time of the alleged texts.
Brett Favre refused to address a question about Jenn Sterger's allegations during a press conference Thursday when asked by Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Costello asked:" Brett, there's an internet report today that accuses you of sending some inappropriate text messages to a female employee of the Jets during your year there. Would care to respond to those allegations?"
Favre was quick to shoot down Costello's question with a "no," saying: "I'm not getting into that. I've got my hands full with the Jets."
I'll say he does. But what I think he was really referring to was the upcoming game the Vikings have against the Jets Monday night, not what he may or may not have done to employees of the team during his one season there.
The popular website Deadspin has been hinting at some major Favre revelations for weeks, but it wasn't until Thursday that the site delivered (in its own unique way) the evidence it had regarding Favre's reported advances toward Jenn Sterger.
The site posted voice mail messages from a person sounding like Farve left on Sterger's voice mail. It also included some rather graphic photos of the male anatomy that reportedly belonged to Favre.
Favre, who is married, sought out Sterger through a team PR person, according to the report on Deadspin.
It wasn't long ago when Jenn Sterger was "discovered."Sterger was photographed during a Florida State football game back in 2005 and her popularity soared. She posed for Playboy in 2006 in the "Top 10 Party Schools" edition and later appeared in Maxim.Sterger has never made it a secret of her quest to live in the spotlight, and sought out jobs in sports broadcasting as a result of her popularity. After serving as the Jets sideline reporter in 2008, she wasn't in the limelight until recent accusations against Brett Favre came to light.
