It's an average performance from an unusual squad that opened Arsenal's new account at the start of the Premier League season on Saturday, but one that Wenger would be content with.

Wenger will be looking at the players he played and he'll be looking for the players who impressed him the most on Saturday. He won't have to look very hard...

Samir Nasri, the French U-21 international and former Marseille Player of the Year, netted in the first five minutes to prove that he wants to make a name for himself, and outplayed every other player on the pitch, in a game that, to be frank, could've gone either way.

Both Arsenal and West Brom wanted the three points from this game from the start, but it was Arsenal that got the advantage in the fourth minute, when a typically "Arsenalesque" play, involving the usual fluid passing play and seamless player interaction resulting in a goal.

Clichy picked up the ball from a through pass, before playing the ball for Denilson to slide it into the six yard box. Nasri ran in and got his foot on the ball and placed it into the bottom right corner, out of Scott Carson's reach.

He certainly enjoyed the goal, as he sprinted off to celebrate his Premier League debut goal. He certainly should enjoy that moment. A brilliant piece of Arsenal passing play resulted in a quality goal and a wonder start for the young Arsenal squad.

The average age of this squad would have been no higher than 22, and it showed.

Despite a brilliant show in the first half, by the hour mark, Arsenal were tiring out. The young squad were tired, (yes, the young excuse is being used again. It's a valid point!), and West Brom were using this to their advantage, to regain possession percentage and play some nice, attractive football.

They had a few chances, one of which could have easily resulted in a goal, if Djourou hadn't stepped in to make a possibly crucial block.

The stats show that Arsenal had many more shots, but that doesn't do West Bromwich Albion any justice.

West Brom put up a great fight throughout the second half, and they could have easily have got a point. But Arsenal held firm, and picked up all three points to open the Premier League.

But can Arsenal get another win next weekend at Fulham?

Well, if Nasri and the other stars play the way they did on Saturday, the money's on Arsenal to get another three points.

Here's to a bright Arsenal future. And congratulations are due to Nasri. A fantastic performance for a future prospect.
