It appears that after several weeks of rumour and speculation Manchester City are close to announcing the capture of Gai Assulin on a free transfer.

City were looking at signing the youngster, described by some as 'the new Messi', in the summer but a deal was delayed by an injury.

Now fit and ready to get back to full training, Roberto Mancini has pressed for the signing with a number of other major European clubs keeping a watching brief.

It seems City have made their move and will add a very talented player to its squad.

As he is only 19, he would be eligible to play immediately and would join Balotelli as a possible star if the future.
