#3 Oregon Ducks at Washington State Cougars
Saturday October 9, 2010 5:00 PM EST
Line: Oregon -36
This Pac-10 battle features the Oregon Ducks and their #1 ranked offense. Oregon last week looked very impressive in a victory vs Stanford. Now there’s the 1-4 ranked Cougars. They are 0-2 vs Pac-10 opponents and have a very tough road if they want to get a win vs Oregon. The Cougars are 1-1 at home.
Like earlier stated, Oregon has the #1 ranked offense scoring 56.6 points per game. Their defense has been solid as well only allowing 15 points a game, 16th overall. The Ducks are lead by their 3rd ranked rushing game that is averaging 331 yards a game. Heisman watch will be out for Sophomore RB LaMichael James who has 712 yards and 7 TDs this year. Just last week James ran for 257 yards and 3 TDs vs Stanford. Sophomore QB Darron Thomas has been very impressive. Thomas has 1,060 yards thru the air with 13 TDs and 5 Ints. He also has shown the ability to run with 219 rushing yards and 2 TDs.
The Cougars will have their hands full defensively as they have allowed 42.8 points a game. Their offense will in turn have to score a bunch of points. That has not been this teams forte as they only have averaged 21 points a game, 92nd in the nation. Their rushing game has been horrible only averaging 86 yards a game, 109th overall. Their passing game has been good averaging 253.4 yards a game which is 30th in the nation. Sophomore QB Jeff Tuel has 1,233 yards this season with 8 TDs and 4 Ints.
Expect this to be one of the easiest football picks of the weekend. Look for Oregon to continue to roll offensively. They have been studly at QB and RB and Lamichael James will continue his Heisman persuit. Washington State will have trouble scoring points and holding this high powered Oregon offense.
