Week 5 NFL Picks – 2010

Paul RaymondCorrespondent IOctober 7, 2010

Sorry but the Week 5 NFL Picks had to come out late this week, I just couldn’t get in the mood to write them with the MLB Playoffs opening. Watching 11 straight hours of baseball was too tempting, now today its pretty tempting but these picks have to get done.

My picks last week got butchered with me only selecting eight correctly. So yea, it was a bad week. On the bright side I did win my lock pick (barely) but easily won my upset pick of the week. That upset pick was the Rams over the Seahawks. I have a feeling this week will be better, so let’s look at what I got.

As always home team is in caps.

Chicago 17, CAROLINA 14
CINCINNATI 21, Tampa Bay 17
St. Louis 21, DETROIT 15
HOUSTON 31, NY Giants 24
BALTIMORE 20, Denver 16
Atlanta 29, CLEVELAND 16
INDIANAPOLIS 26, Kansas City 23
Jacksonville 20, BUFFALO 15 – Bills game announce a TV Black Out, new trend for team?
Green Bay 23, WASHINGTON 19
New Orleans 31, ARIZONA 14
DALLAS 22, Tennessee 18
LOCK – San Diego 30, OAKLAND 18

Few thoughts on the games this week.

My upset pick this week is for the San Francisco 49ers to take out the Philadelphia Eagles. The Niners are a better team then their 0-4 record indicates and the Eagles well they’ll struggle some without Michael Vick. I’m thinking this is a prime opportunity for the 49ers to get in the win column. They’ll win a tight one at home, late.

My lock this week is for the San Diego Chargers to beat the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are also better then their record indicates, but so are the Chargers. The Chargers can put up points in a hurry, while Oakland can give them up quick too. Expect a blow out win for the Bolts.

The Texans / Giants game is going to get a lot of talk this weekend, you know after the performance Big Blue put up against the Bears. Let me say this right now, I’m a huge Giants fan but they WILL NOT put up the same defensive performance against Houston this week. The Texans actually have a legit offensive line and won’t crumble as easily as Chicago’s. This game should be high scoring and the explosive Texans should do just enough in front of the home crowd to win.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Indianapolis and Kansas City is the game of the week. That’s right the Chiefs are the GAME OF THE WEEK!!!! Craziness, I know. A lot of people are expecting the Chiefs to just lay over and let the Colts walk over them. They think the Chiefs are a joke and will come back to earth this weekend. I disagree. They’ve got a decent running game and defense, and I think they can compete. I think they can win the AFC West. BUT I don’t think they can beat the Colts, they will make it competitive thou.
