Bad:
On the road, the Islanders were able to score first for 15 times. Also, on the road, the Islanders were 3-13 when the margin was at least three goals. Only one team allowed more goals when on the penalty kill than the New York Islanders. That number must come down this year.

Good:
Last year the Islanders did do some good things on defense. They were able to force turnovers. No team had more takeaways than the New York Islanders.

Best Free Agent Lost:
The Islanders lost a decent goaltender in Martin Biron within the division. That could come back to haunt them.

Best Free Agent Signed:
Adding Mark Eaton from Pittsburgh should help on the defensive side of the ice.

Where I see the Islanders this year:
I see New York continuing to force turnovers and I also see New York playing better on special teams. They’d be a better team if they can kill more power plays.
