So now that Randy Moss is heading back to Minnesota, will Deion Branch be heading back to New England? Since trading Moss, everyone thinks Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have a plan in place but do they? Apparently they do, there are multiple reports that the Pats are talking with the Seattle Seahawks about Branch. I have to ask thou is that really a plan?
If anything, I’d say its a short term plan as Branch knows their system and could help them out. At his age he won’t be an every down player but he’d a solid backup to Brandon Tate. In addition to that, he’d give Tom Brady another receiver that he totally trusts.
So how likely is this to happen? I’d say it depends on how much Pete Carroll and the Seahawks ask for. Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times says there is a possibility of a deal, while Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald says things are more in the discussion stage, then a negotiation.
Like I said earlier, if a trade is made it should help the Pats short term and shouldn’t cost them much.
After getting the third rounder from Minnesota, I’m sure Belichick wouldn’t mind giving up a fourth or fifth. I don’t see how it could cost much more as the Seahawks need all the help the draft picks they can get to help their rebuilding process.
