New Chicago Bulls free-agent signing Carlos Boozer will miss eight weeks with a fractured hand, the team announced on Sunday.

According to the Bulls, Boozer suffered the injury on Saturday, a day off for the team.

It has not yet been disclosed exactly how the two-time NBA All-Star broke the fifth metacarpal in his right hand, but the team says the fracture will require surgery.

Boozer, who had spent the last six years with the Utah Jazz, came over to the Bulls this summer in a sign-and-trade deal that will pay the former Duke Blue Devil $80 million over five years.
