No. 2 Ohio State Vs. Illinois Live Blog
Good morning everyone!
It's the first college football weekend in October, and we are starting off with a bang today. There are a surplus of excellent games on today, including Miami/Clemson, Wisconsin/Michigan State, Texas/Oklahoma, Stanford/Oregon, Penn State/Ohio State, and the marquee game—Florida/Alabama.
I, an Illinois featured columnist, will start off the morning doing a live blog of the Ohio State vs. Illinois game.
Ohio State has won five of the past six meetings, but that one win for Illinois came in 2007 as Illinois upset the No. 1 ranked Buckeyes.
Illinois is looking to do the same today, but it will be a difficult task to accomplish against a strong offense lead by Heisman candidate Terrelle Pryor.
To win, Illinois needs to be able to establish a strong run game to help out their redshirt-freshman quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase. Ohio State will bring pressure to try and disrupt Scheelhaase's rhythm, but he needs to be patient and use his agility and speed when necessary.
The most important key for Illinois is to contain Pryor. Just like Scheelhaase, Pryor can hurt you with both his arm and feet. The only way Illinois has a chance to stay in this game if they can contain him, otherwise this game will get ugly early.
With all that said, I wish for a clean, competitive game.
Let the games begin!
I will be coming out with an article soon about the Five Things Learned About Illinois After Ohio State Defeat
Thank you for all of you who checked out my live blog! This is my first experiment with the live blog feature and I will likely be doing this in the future!
Enjoy the rest of this great college football Saturday!
Overall, great performance by Illinois. They came in huge underdogs and made the game very competive. Scheelhaase showed everyone the potential he has, and he is a star in the making. As for the Illinois defense, they were fantastic today holding OSU to only 24 points.
Although Illinois lost, they should come out of this very confident. For me, it was a morale victory.
