Fantasy Football Do's and Don'ts

With the new NFL season approaching fantasy football is alive and thriving.  Everyone knows that once you begin with it, it is impossible to stop.  But what will make your team so much better than last year?  Common knowledge.

What I mean to say is that you cannot draft a team based off of a player's overall rating in Madden.  For example, many people that have already done their drafts probably don't know that Willis McGahee (pictured above) will actually be on the bench for at least the first 4 weeks of the season after recently getting knee surgery.

When it comes to fantasy sports in general it is all about playing time.  Michael Turner, former second string running back for the San Diego Chargers has been traded to Atlanta and Warrick Dunn is now back in Tampa Bay.  What does that mean?  Turner, who in my opinion was a very strong back in San Diego and the only reason you may not know his name of course is because he was behind L.T., is going to be the starting back for Atlanta and might be a strong pick in your draft, even if his past numbers don't show it.

Also along the lines of injuries, Bobby Engram, star wide receiver on the Seattle Seahawks, will be out for at least 6 weeks.  My last bit of advice comes on the WR spot in your roster.  Shaun McDonald.  The name means nothing to you if you do not live in Detroit but let me tell you, his numbers were off the charts last year.  The no name receiver pulled in more points than Laverneous Coles or Santana Moss with 79 receptions, 943 yards, and 6 touchdowns.  He is a definite sleeper in the draft.
