The Labour Day Classic between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders is coming up soon. It will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, Aug. 31 (in Regina, of course).
Trying to prepare for such an event is becoming difficult to do. It is like this is the game of all games.
I honestly have no idea what to expect for the most part. There are so many questions that I just don't have the answers to, so I hope some of you do.
I assume the rivalry between the fans will be most insane. I remember driving through Regina the day of last year's matchup and seeing Bombers fans swearing and booing out the windows of the hotels.
But what about the energy? Should I be ready for a tiring afternoon?
Should I take as many pictures as humanly possible in case this kind of game is as rare as people make it sound?
Do I have the right to feel blessed even to be on the premises for the game? What about bragging rights?
Is this something that all Roughriders fans feel the first time they attend the Labour Day Classic?
I may only be working at the game. I may only be able to watch part of the action. But I am pumped...and so unprepared.

The LDC is Prairie Valhalla in these parts. I hope all who plan to be in attendance rest their pipes and bring everything but the kitchen sink to rattle those pesky 2-4(bahahahaha) Bombers.

Haha, no worries Lisa. I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on some.
For some reason, attendance has been different this season. I drove by the stadium on the way home from work when Dinwiddie won the first game against the Stamps and the entire upper sections of CanadInns was pretty much bare. Kind of sad, but with a 2-7 record it's kind of expected.
Winnipeg are wishy-washy fans. Look at the Jets, we supported them hardcore in the playoffs and when they were going to leave but besides that Winnipeg Arena was bare most season games. Maybe 10,000-14,000 per game. So no wonder that the Bombers are the only top professional league team in Winnipeg anymore.

We drive out from Winnipeg to Regina every year (die hard Bomber fans) and make a 4 day weekend of it. It's a lot of fun, even though we have lost the last few times that we've gone :( I have to give credit to the Sask Fans, they are very die hard as well, and make it a fun weekend to partake in. The interesting thing that we have found is that Sask merchandise is available EVERYWHERE and at reasonable cost, so the whole family can have gear and the tickets are reasonable as well. In Wpg you're hard pressed to find Bomber stuff cheap and the tickets are pretty pricey. But we continue to support the Bombers, they're our home team. So enjoy Labour Day, we look forward to it every year!
