Chicago Blackhawks season preview 2010

Chicago’s save percentage were among the worst last year. Only two teams had a lower save percentage than the champs. Another thing that Chicago was bad at was scoring when on the power play last year. They were 29th in the league when it came to scoring on the power play.

No other team scored first more than Chicago did last year. Chicago also had one of the best penalty kills last year. They allowed just 39 goals when on the PK and they led the league in shorthanded goals last year with 13. The Blackhawks were also able to rely on Jonathan Toews in shootouts last year. Jonathan was tied for the league lead in shootout goals with 8. One final note will be the fact that Chicago led the league in shots per game and also led the league in shots against per game.
Off Season notes:
The best guy that the Blackhawks gave up in free agency was Andrew Ladd. Ladd was a great goal scorer for the majority of the season.
Marty Turco will be the best free agent signing for Chicago this year. Ed Belford went to the Stars after a good start to his career in Chicago. Now, Marty Turco is with the Blackhawks after a good career with the Stars. It’s funny how things work out.
Where I see them going:
Chicago won’t be as good in terms of goaltending which may come back to haunt them. I know they just won the Stanley Cup which will be great for hockey, but, I see the Chicago Blackhawks being eliminated in the second round this year. There are just too many talented teams out there for Chicago to even repeat.
