Austin Rivers, son of NBA coach and former player Doc Rivers, verbally committed to the Duke Blue Devils today.
The No. 1 high school player in the 2011 class de-committed from Florida University in the summer and re-opened his recruiting. The elite in college basketball—including Kansas and North Carolina—applied the 'full court press' to land Rivers.
Rivers picked Duke thanks to his great relationship with head coach Mike Krzyzewski as well as the up-tempo style of play that the Blue Devils will look to implement this season.
Rivers joins Michael Gbinije, Tyler Adams, and Marshall Plumlee in the 2011 class.
