Josh Powell Signs with Lakers

Ryan WardCorrespondent IAugust 15, 2008

I am not quite sure why the Lakers signed 6'9" forward/center free agent Josh Powell (Who?), but they did.

As of Aug. 14, 2008 former Clippers forward Powell is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Powell has hopped around a bit in his short NBA career, playing with the Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, and the Los Angeles Clippers. He has also played overseas in both Russia and Italy.

I'm assuming that this is a result of the loss of Ronny Turiaf to the Golden State Warriors. Personally, I think they could have done better if they'd looked around a bit more before picking up an unproven journeyman who hasn't made any kind of impression in the NBA as of yet. But I guess they settled for Powell for the time being.
