First, let me say that I am not a Brock Lesnar fan. To be honest I was hoping for "crazy horse" Heath Herring, who has over 40 fights.
MMA fans the world around still remember him knocking out Yoshihiro Nakao after an impromptu kiss during their stare-down. My subconscious homophobia allowed me to jump from my seat and cheer that one!
Herring has made an impression by never being knocked out his entire career. So what would a guy like Lesnar bring to the table in his third MMA fight to defeat Heath? Superior fighting skills, that's what.
Brock proved to me that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the next several years. If things go the way they went on Saturday, you are looking at a future heavyweight champion by 2010.
- B/R Ticket Guide
One skill that's been a constant throughout Brock's athletic career has been his devastating power. Herring is a strong fighter. Standing 6'4" and weighing at 250 lbs. makes him a huge guy even in the heavyweight division.
Brock manhandled Heath Herring for what seemed like an eternity. Heath reminded me of my little brother. I used to hold him down and he would get mad as heck but couldn’t move an inch.
Some of you might want to say that all he did was lay on Heath's back while punching his broken orbital bone further into his head. Sounds simple, right?
Wrong. Controlling Heath for the majority of the fight and maintaining top position on the ground takes skill and power.
Brock kept to his game plan and punished the Texan from start to finish while keeping him down. Dana White's decision to sign the big (ex-real and fake) wrestler is turning out to look just fine.
That is unless he meets another guy with the submission skills of Frank Mir. But believe me when I say I this, there aren’t too many Frank Mirs out there!

I'm also not a WWE fan in the least, and I thought Brock would be legit fro the get-go!
Brock has an excellent chance to one day be a champion!

I have been in the same boat you are in with regards to Brock Lesnar. I so wanted Herring to put him in his place again, but it just wasn't in the stars. Now with Brock being Dana's "new boy," Lesnar will get a lot more push and hype than the ordinary Joes who have just two UfC fights under their belt, snd one of those being a loss at that. He is huge, very marketable, some would say handsome and has that solid all American boy record in wrestling, so I guess we should just rejoice for what he can do for the sport

very true...i was lucky ...i ate crow when he lost to mir ..but i said to hell with it ..im betting on him again because if he can get heath down like he did mir ..its game over ..heath is good but he isnt frank mir (submission expert)

Of course, there is a pretty significant fighter out there with the BJJ skills of Frank Mir... the guy who is the current UFC heavyweight champ: Minotauro Nogeira.

Mir doesn't deserve that postion of fighting for the belt, but that's why I am sitting here in front of my $499 computer and Dana White is in his Southern Highlands Vegas home laying in a mattress made of $1000 bills. I, personally, would love to see Mir string together a few more wins to prove he IS back. He's looked horrible since his accident, both in victory and in defeat. But I digress....
Brock Lesnar can only help the sport. He brings a whole new group of fans to the sport. Fans who are willing to fork out $40 to watch what is essentially a soap opera in a ring, complete with bad acting and mind numbing storylines will bring their parents hard-earned dollars to the UFC. These fans will add to PPV purchases for the UFC and MMA in general, causing fighter salaries to rise and thrusting "our" sport into the mainstream. GO BROCK!!

Brock Lesnar will be the real deal in the MMA. Look at that punch he hit Herring with which was an awkward punch and made Heath go ass over tea kettle. Heath is a big kid but I honestly thought Brock would dominate him and he did. What makes Brock maybe one of the more dangerous fighters now besides the obvious size and strength is that he is not forgetting his wrestling at all. I even saw a half nelson attempt. Call it crazy but it was all about ground control which he had. I also saw a wrist roll to gain control or Heath's arm. When was the last time you saw those in MMA? This guy has dominated all 3 fights and learned a valuable lesson against an over matched Mir.

On a side note: After getting dominated by Marero and Herring previously in his UFC career, Cheik Kongo said this following his victory over......... who did he fight again???
“Everybody knows I deserve a title shot,” Kongo said. “I want to be the best fighter in the world and I will show more than I did tonight when I get a title shot.”
Am I the only one who is picking himself up off the floor after wetting my pants in laughter?
