Ducks season preview

Problems for the Ducks last year:
Turning early leads into points was a huge problem. They scored first 44 times and when they did score first they were 8-10 on the road when scoring first. The Ducks need to protect their leads if they want to win this year.
There was only one team ahead of the Ducks when it came to allowing shorthanded goals last year.
The Ducks should also stay out of the box this year. Last year they were one of the worst teams when it came to allowing teams to get the man advantage. They were on the man disadvantage 324 times. Only six teams had more man disadvantages than Anaheim.
Good for the Ducks last year:
The Ducks did have success when on power play. Even though they gave up a lot of shorthanded goals last year, they were able to score when on the power play. They just need to work on keeping the puck in their opponent’s zone when they have the man advantage.
Best signing:
Resigning Saku Koivu should help on offense and adding some defenseman should also help for the Ducks.
How they should fair this year:
The Ducks should have a good front line and a solid defense. I see they Ducks making the playoffs because of their defense. They won’t have the offense to hang with the Kings or the Sharks, but they might be able to out defend teams like the Kings or the Sharks.
