NY Islanders Lose Mark Streit For Six Months

Reports out of New York are that the Islanders have lose defenseman Mark Streit for six months.

Streit was hit during a scrimmage and reportedly suffered a torn labrum and torn rotator cuff, and will require major surgery.

There are options available for the Islanders. The cross-town Rangers placed Wade Redden on waivers Saturday morning, while veterans like Sheldon Souray and Tomas Kaberle have been shopped. However, losing a productive leader like Streit is a tough blow for the Isles.
