A weakened Arsenal outfit cruised to a 2-0 victory over Steve McClaren's FC Twente.

The Gunners were missing Fabregas, Rosicky, Nasri, Toure, Senderos and Song amongst others, on a night where Aaron Ramsey started in midfield alongside Denilson.

Emmanuel Eboue and Theo Walcott completed the midfield with fit again duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie up front.

The Gunners created early chances with van Persie striking inches wide on the half hour mark but they eventually broke the deadlock in the second half after the hour mark when Gallas turned in, van Persie's strike from long range.

Emmanuel Adebayor's goal sealed the deal for the Gunners as the Togo striker slammed Theo Walcott's pass into the back of the net.
