Detroit enters Week 3 with a realistic shot of sending potential NFC North favorite Minnesota to a 0-3 record to start the season. The Lions threw for 335 yards through the air with two TDs and two INTs with backup Shawn Hill at the helm. Cal product RB Jahvid Best has been a beast in his first two games collecting close to 500 yards and five TD’s as a rookie. Should he continue having a field day in the early goings of his career, he’ll have done it against the Vikings 10th ranked rushing defense. The Lions converted 22 first downs and 6-of-15 third downs against Philly last week, but the defense surrendered 450+ yards of offense to Michael Vick and company, but also recorded five sacks.
Minnesota is reeling and Brett Favre is starting to question if he should have come back for a 20th season after the Vikings have opened the season up 0-2 due partly to #4’s terrible play and TD/INT ratio of 1/4. Though he threw for 225 yards, he was picked off three times and failed to throw a TD pass; he’s currently the ringleader of the 24th ranked passing offense in the NFL. The star of the game was Adrian Peterson who ran for 145 yards and a score. The defense gave up only 234 total yards in a strong showing.
The Lions stand 6-4-1 ATS the L/11 times they were dogged by 10.5 to 14 points, but they’ve covered only once in their L/7 tries against divisional opponents (Week 1 vs. Chicago). Minnesota is 5-1-1 ATS in its L/7 home games, while going 4-1-1 ATS its L/6 within the division. The ‘under’ has cashed in each of the L/4 meetings.
