SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - SEPTEMBER 11: Jared Waerea-Hargraves of the Roosters is hit hard in a tackle by Simon Dwyer of the Tigers in the last minute of regular time during the NRL Second Qualifying Final match between the Wests Tigers and the Sydney Roosters

With football season underway, it's easy to forget that other sports also provide plenty of huge hits.

Last week, Simon Dwyer provided a reminder that football isn't the only contact sport.

For the purposes of this list, we'll exclude boxing, MMA and limit hockey hits to a minimum while scanning the wide spectrum of sports.

Here's a look at ten of the most vicious hits in sports, including the epic tackle by Dwyer that made him look like an NFL All-Pro linebacker.

No. 10: Big Shot Bob's Big Cheap Shot

With the Suns leading by three with 18 seconds remaining in Game 4 of the 2007 Western Conference Playoffs, Robert Horry did what he needed to do. Sort of.

Horry fouled Nash by hip-checking him into the scorers table, drawing an ejection and wrath from the Suns' Raja Bell.

Nash has taken a pounding during his NBA career, but always seems to bounce right back up.

Canadians are tough.

No. 9: Gaby Sanchez Reminds Nyjer Morgan He Is Not Loved

Nyjer Morgan has created quiet an intense following of haters in the last year.

The Nationals outfielder known for his hot-temper and frequent blunders started on of the more intense baseball brawls you will ever see against the Marlins earlier this season.

After he had needlessly ran over rookie catch Brett Hayes in the previous game, the diminutive Morgan charged the mound after 6'9" pitcher Chris Volstad threw at him.

Morgan threw a leaping punch at Volstad before Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez ran over and leveled him.

Morgan was a star junior hockey player while growing up in Canada.

It looks like he wishes he was playing in the NHL...

No. 8: Josh Lewsey Clocks Mat Rogers

Josh Lewsey inflicted some pain against Australia's Mat Rogers, smashing into his chest and form-tackling him into the turf.

No. 7: They Start Em Young In Hockey

There's nothing quite like watching kids try to destroy each other while fanatical parents egg them on. Here's a look at some nice hits from pee wee hockey.

No. 6: Jerry Collins Does His Thing

Collins is one of the most lethal tacklers in the world. The Flanker put a hit on a player without the ball against the Biarritz club.

That's what they call him "The Terminator."

No. 5: Jerry Collins Strikes Again

This video would be better if it was zoomed-in a bit, but Jerry Collins brings the pain against Gonzalo Canale.

No. 4: The Hits Down Under

Including Australian Rules Football in the mix in this non-football compilation might be a stretch, but the hits are just too go to pass up.

Here's a nice compilation, with apologies for the musical selection.

No. 3: Todd Bertuzzi's Cheap Shot On Steve Moore

It's been difficult to keep fights from making the list, but Todd Bertuzzi laid a big hit and a huge cheap shot on Steve Moore, leading to a suspension and an apology.

The fallout from Moore's broken neck even led to a lawsuit.

Hockey is a contact sport, but Bertuzzi's actions clearly crossed the line.

No. 2: Flying On Skates

Aside from football and rugby, hockey is about as vicious as it gets.

Here's a look at one of the biggest checks you will ever see.

And that leads us to Number One...

No. 1: Dwyer Drops The Hammer

Simon Dwyer absolutely unloaded on his adversary, launching his right shoulder into Jared Waerea-Hargreave's chest.

The reaction from his teammates and the fans pretty much says it all.
