Former Buckeye Mike Nugent named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
It seems like some things never change. During his time at Ohio State, Mike Nugent played an integral part in many of the Buckeyes’ wins. Now in the NFL, his career seems to have the same mantra.
On Sunday, Nugent made five field goals in the Bengals’ 15-10 win over the Ravens. For his effort, the NFL honored Mike with the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award.
This is Nugent’s sixth season in the league. During his tenure in the NFL, he’s played for the New York Jets, the Arizona Cardinals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and currently with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Over the course of his career, he has an 80 percent field goal average and missed only two extra points (100 for 102). In his first two games as a Bengal, he’s made all six of his field goal attempts and three extra points.
The Bengals play at Carolina this Sunday.
