Hey Bleachers, how's it going?
I know it's been a while since my last article, (which will be a hard act to follow) but I have decided to give it a go! So here goes.
As the title suggests, I am going to talk about the inevitable feud between John Cena and Wade Barrett. I personally believe this has the potential to be a very good feud between the two, (and if the rumblings within the IWC that suggest that John Cena and Randy Orton will be facing each other at Wrestlemania 27 prove to be correct), then this feud could last until the Royal Rumble or even Elimination Chamber, however it would make more sense to end it at the Royal Rumble.
Cena and Barrett have pretty much been going at each other since Barrett led the Nexus out on that episode of Raw after the climax of the first season of NXT. Since then, the bad blood between the two of them has seemed to escalate all the way to the point where the one on one match has been made at the Hell In A Cell pay per view, with the added stipulation that if Barrett wins, Cena joins the Nexus and if Cena wins, the Nexus disbands.
There were rumours within the IWC that the Nexus were going to split up in October, and this may actually be the end of the Nexus.
Now, at the moment it hasn't been slated to be a Hell In A Cell match, but I do believe that their match should be a HIAC match, as it would make sure the odds are fair and also I think it would be quite an apt way for Cena's feud with the Nexus to end or make the perfect platform for him to join the group.
Personally, I hope that Cena's feud with the Nexus ends at Hell In A Cell, but that he continues a feud with Barrett. I think the potential is there for a feud between the two that continues all the way to ppv's such as the Royal Rumble or even Elimination Chamber. I don't think that the feud will last any longer because of the potential Cena v Orton WM27 main event.
However, Cena and Barrett could keep a feud going from now until either the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber, and could even include the title in the picture at the same time. I think that Cena should win the match at HIAC, then continue a one on one feud with Barrett, with a #1 contender's match at Bragging Rights with Barrett, which either man could win.
Then whoever wins at Bragging Rights can face the title holder at Survivor Series, and either win there, or at TLC in a rematch. The point is that one of these guys is WWE champion by the time the Royal Rumble rolls around.
I think that the WWE would probably have Randy Orton win the Royal Rumble if he's not the current champion or isn't involved in the championship match, which would set up the match with Cena at WM, meaning that Cena would win the title somewhere between Survivor Series and Elimination Chamber.
If I was in charge of this storyline, this is how it would play out over the next few months:
Hell In A Cell: John Cena defeats Wade Barrett in a HIAC match. As a result, Nexus disbands.
Bragging Rights: Wade Barrett defeats John Cena in a #1 contenders match for the WWE Championship. (2 out of 3 falls match)
Survivor Series: Wade Barrett defeats the WWE Champion in a WWE Championship match.
TLC: Wade Barrett defeats the #1 contender in a TLC match to retain the WWE Championship.
Royal Rumble: John Cena defeats Wade Barrett to win the WWE Championship. (Last Man Standing match)
Elimination Chamber: John Cena retains the WWE Championship inside of the Elimination Chamber, last eliminating Randy Orton. (The way that the WM storyline could potentially begin.)
Now that is just a very rough idea on how the storyline could go, and I've just added the stipulations to the matches to make them a little more interesting. This is literally just a quick thought out way to prolong the feud, as well as giving Barrett a run with the title at the same time. I think that Barrett does have the ability to be a good champion, hence I gave him a run with it in the storyline. I also thought it was a good way to avoid a potential Cena-Orton feud before the big one at Wrestlemania.
Like I said earlier, I know that my way is a very rough path on how the feud could go between them, and it would also help promote Barrett to singles main event status, (as out of all of the Nexus members, he is the one who will make the main event stage first.)
Well, that's my opinion on how the feud could go, and it would be good to see this feud escalate further as they are both in their prime and it would be the platform for Wade Barrett to launch his main event singles career, and also it could lead perfectly into the WM main event between Cena and Orton.
Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to post your opinions, and even how you think the feud should draw out.
