Five Reasons Why Arizona State Will Beat Georgia

There is a much anticipated Pac-10 versus SEC showdown coming up pitting the Arizona State Sun Devils against the visiting Georgia Bulldogs on Sept. 20.  The Sun Devils are going to win and here's why:

1. The Pac-10 rules the SEC in head-to-head play.  Need I remind you SEC fans that the Pac-10 is 9-6 versus the SEC since 2002 and 5-2 excluding USC and LSU.

2. The Sun Devils are 15-6 in Sun Devil Stadium since 2005 and were 7-1 last year, with their only loss coming to USC.

3. Rudy Carpenter's going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country.  He has progressed from 2,273 yards as a freshman to 2,523 yards (what Stafford threw for last year) as a sophomore to 3,202 as a junior.

If he continues this progression, he will end up somewhere around 3,600 yards passing this year.  To put that in perspective, Heisman winner Tim Tebow threw for 3,286 last year.

4. The Arizona State run defense will contain Knowshon Moreno.  The Sun Devils only gave up 1,211 yards on the ground last year.  Only one SEC team, Florida, allowed fewer rushing yards than Arizona State.

5. Arizona State will win the turnover battle.  In the 2007 season, Arizona State caused 17 interceptions to Georgia's 11.  The Sun Devil secondary will be licking their chops all night long.
