There is a much anticipated Pac-10 versus SEC showdown coming up pitting the Arizona State Sun Devils against the visiting Georgia Bulldogs on Sept. 20. The Sun Devils are going to win and here's why:
1. The Pac-10 rules the SEC in head-to-head play. Need I remind you SEC fans that the Pac-10 is 9-6 versus the SEC since 2002 and 5-2 excluding USC and LSU.
2. The Sun Devils are 15-6 in Sun Devil Stadium since 2005 and were 7-1 last year, with their only loss coming to USC.
3. Rudy Carpenter's going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He has progressed from 2,273 yards as a freshman to 2,523 yards (what Stafford threw for last year) as a sophomore to 3,202 as a junior.
If he continues this progression, he will end up somewhere around 3,600 yards passing this year. To put that in perspective, Heisman winner Tim Tebow threw for 3,286 last year.
4. The Arizona State run defense will contain Knowshon Moreno. The Sun Devils only gave up 1,211 yards on the ground last year. Only one SEC team, Florida, allowed fewer rushing yards than Arizona State.
5. Arizona State will win the turnover battle. In the 2007 season, Arizona State caused 17 interceptions to Georgia's 11. The Sun Devil secondary will be licking their chops all night long.

I the past 50 years with all of those wins how many National titles does this great UGA team have? They have more wins in the past 50 years then ND so that means they have to have at least 5 right? Man that's a lot of wins.....
Those are all "banner worthy" and as proud of all those wins as you are I'm sure you've had some banners made to hang around your house they say "We have 1 national title but hey look at all of our wins over the past 50 years"....

You're losing it Thomas. Another Pac 10 vs. SEC article from you. It's been several hours and only 2 comments so far. I think everyone is starting to see you as a one trick pony...a one note samba. Prove us all wrong by writing about some stuff other than this and giving us all a much needed break.

"Licking their chops"... are you kiddin me? Matthew Stafford faces much tougher secondaries than AzState, week after week. UGA fans will make this a home game for the Dawgs. Georgia will win by 2 TD's, and KNOWSHON will run wild in the desert. After the beat down is over, we would expect an apology.

and one more thing... Rudy Carpenter? I've got two words for you... Colt Brennan. Watch the tape.

ASU is a much better team than Hawai'i. Colt Brennan barely beat Washington at home; ASU crushed UW 44-20. Also, Stafford was not great last season (he didn't have to be).
Having said that, ASU will probably lose to Georgia, unless Moreno is injured. As much as I'd like the Pac-10 to take down a presumed national title contender, I don't see it happening, even at ASU.

1. The Pac-10 rules the SEC in head-to-head play. Need I remind you SEC fans that the Pac-10 is 9-6 versus the SEC since 2002 and 5-2 excluding USC and LSU.
While this fact is true, unless UGA/ASU is in there, that's nothing more than an interesting stat.
2. The Sun Devils are 15-6 in Sun Devil Stadium since 2005 and were 7-1 last year, with their only loss coming to USC.
Richt is 25-4 in opposing teams' stadiums so I'd say that is advantage Richt. One thing to also remember about that stat is that it isn't padded with games against directional U as home stadium stats tend to be.
Yea, and Colt Brennan and Tim Tebow did so well against us.
4. The Arizona State run defense will contain Knowshon Moreno. The Sun Devils only gave up 1,211 yards on the ground last year. Only one SEC team, Florida, allowed fewer rushing yards than Arizona State.
Funny you should bring up Florida as Moreno ran circles around their D.
5. Arizona State will win the turnover battle. In the 2007 season, Arizona State caused 17 interceptions to Georgia's 11. The Sun Devil secondary will be licking their chops all night long.
Valid point, but I doubt the game will be won on turnovers as we only had 15 interceptions all year. Not only that but D tends to hold teams when we do turn the ball over.

WAT YOU GUYS FAIL TO UNDERSTAND IS THIS IS ANOTHER NO ARGUMENT ASU IS NOT THAT GOOD WHICH IS WHY THERE OUT OF CONFERENCE SCH. IS WEAK. AND COLT BRENNEN IS A BETTER QB THEN RUDY CARPENTER ASU DOESNT PLAY ANYONE PAC 10 DOESNT COUNT THE ONLY TEAM WORTH MENTIONING THEY LOST TO. ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE ITS ABOUT CHAMPIONSHIPS PAC10 RULES THE SEC IN HEAD TO HEAD MATCH UP WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW EVEN SHAQ. MAKES FREE THROWS SO WAT SEC HAS WONE 5 OF THE LAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. ASU NEED TO GO GET JAKE THE SNAKE BACK AND TILMAN FROM THE DEAD AND MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE. AND A QUESTION FOR U WHO IS THESE STATS AGAINST WHO HAVE THEY BEAT WORTH SPIT THERE FIRST GAME IS AGAINST NORTH ARIZONA A SCHOOL FULL OF TO SMALL TO PLAY D-1 AND THE OTHER LEFT OVERS FROM ASU AND U OF A RECRUITS. THERE LIKE BOLOGNA AS FAR AS TALENT. ITS VERY ENDLESS THESE TALKS OF WHOS BETTER THAN US THERES THE SEC THEN EVERYONE ELSE. Irregardless of who wins this game one fact will remain ... SEC fans think SEC teams are much stronger than they actually are and are only a small step below Ohio State fans in their delusion.
As an example, look at the posts by "GeorgiaDawg" and you'll see that he clearly hasn't watched any Pac-10 football, probably ever, but decided to spout off anyway. The rest of us see that Georgia is clearly a really good team this year but that playing ASU at ASU is going to be a huge challenge for them. Deal with it.

"lsuornuthin" wrote ... "ASU IS NOT THAT GOOD WHICH IS WHY THERE OUT OF CONFERENCE SCH. IS WEAK". This season LSU's opening schedule includes Appalachian State, Troy, and North Texas. Does that also prove how weak LSU is?

Michael,
Yes Ga lost a great O lineman from a front that gave up 15 sacks last year. And they were mostly Freshmen. Now they have a year under their belt. ASU return only 2 from a line that gave up 55 sacks! Plus one of the returners is a former walk-on. Good luck with that. How bad are the guys that couldn't break through to start on the 117th best line in the country.
Oh, and GA was 18th in turnover margin. ASU was 38th.

Hey retard that wrote this article, the competition UGA plays compared to ASU isn't even close. Yea it must be fun playing all of those PAC 10 powerhouse teams like USC...oh wait thats the only one. Obviously their stats would be better they play in a weak conference....duh...When UGA plays Auburn Florida LSU Tenn. Alabama South Carolina Georgia Tech...Yea talk to me when the ASU can compare. Till then write an article that matters
